Tragic Head-On Collision in Alton Highlights the Fatal Dangers of Wrong-Way Driving

Our hearts go out to the community of Alton and the families affected by a recent, devastating accident. Late Sunday night, a fatal two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a driver and left another hospitalized, serving as a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly tragedy can unfold on our local roads.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the incident occurred around 11:14 p.m. on Moorefield Road, just north of Mile 8 Road. Preliminary investigations revealed a gray Ford Fusion was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes. In a desperate attempt to avoid a head-on collision, the driver of a northbound black Chevrolet Blazer steered into the southbound lane. Tragically, the driver of the Ford corrected his path at the same time, resulting in a devastating head-on crash in the southbound lane.
The driver of the Ford suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Chevrolet was transported to DHR Health for medical evaluation.
