Attorney Chris Sanchez - Texas Oil Field Accident Lawyer

We stand with workers and families affected by devastating oil field accidents, fighting for justice against powerful energy companies. We represent clients across all major Texas energy regions, from the Permian Basin to the Eagle Ford Shale and the refinery complexes in Houston.

Taking on Powerful Energy Companies

When an explosion or other catastrophic event occurs in an oil field, the energy company and its contractors immediately deploy teams of lawyers and investigators to control the narrative and limit their financial exposure. Injured workers are often left facing a corporate giant alone.

You need an advocate who is not intimidated. Injury Attorney Chris Sanchez has the experience and resources to level the playing field. We thoroughly investigate the incident—whether in Midland-Odessa, Corpus Christi, or South Texas—to identify all negligent parties and build a case designed to secure your family’s future.

Texas oil fields are high-risk environments, but that doesn’t excuse negligence. From the Permian Basin to the Eagle Ford Shale, workers face catastrophic risks every day. If you were injured on a rig or at a refinery, you need an attorney who understands the specific federal OSHA regulations and Texas Railroad Commission rules that operators frequently ignore.

  • Rig Blowouts & Explosions: Often caused by faulty equipment or bypassed safety protocols.
  • Heavy Equipment Failure: Negligent maintenance of cranes, drills, and high-pressure lines.
  • Toxic Exposure: Long-term health damage from chemicals or H2S gas leaks.
  • Commercial Vehicle Crashes: High-speed collisions involving transport trucks on lease roads.

Many oilfield workers are told their only option is workers’ comp. This is often false. We aggressively look for third-party liability—negligent equipment manufacturers or independent contractors—who can be held responsible for far greater compensation than workers’ comp provides.

Permian Basin and Eagle Ford Oil Field Accidents

Oilfield accident cases in the Permian Basin (Midland, Odessa, Pecos, Monahans) and Eagle Ford Shale region (Cotulla, Pearsall, Carrizo Springs, Three Rivers) involve multiple potentially liable parties: the operator, the drilling contractor, well-service contractors, equipment manufacturers, and trucking companies hauling sand, water, and oil. Identifying every responsible party is critical because Texas law allows recovery from each one based on their proportionate fault.

Common oilfield injury scenarios include hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas exposure, high-pressure equipment failures, falls from drilling rigs, vehicle accidents involving frac trucks and crude haulers on rural Texas highways, well blowouts and explosions, and crush injuries from pipe handling. Many of these involve OSHA standards (29 CFR 1910), API recommended practices, and Texas Railroad Commission rules — violations of any of these are powerful evidence of negligence.

Texas oilfield workers may have BOTH a workers’ compensation claim against their employer (if the employer carries it) AND a third-party negligence claim against any non-employer who contributed to the injury. The third-party claim often produces significantly larger recoveries because it is not capped by workers’ comp limits. Chris Sanchez handles complex multi-party oilfield cases throughout Texas.
